The Inspiration

I have a confession to make.

I set a goal to write and publish these posts in 60 minutes or less.

Why? Because I strive to value my time.

But I have not been holding myself accountable.

The Innovation

I have spent upwards of 2-3 hours per post so far.

I edit, obsess, and re-write because I am afraid of public scrutiny.

Fear stands between me and my goal, but what suffers is my time.

The more I take on, the more I realize time is our most valuable and limited resource.

So, for this to work – for any goal of mine to be successful – I need to retrain my brain to work within the time I’ve allocated for it.

The Action

Put a hard deadline on how you want to prioritize your time.

For this post, I have a timer running.

I am going to publish it after my 60 minutes are up. If there are typos or unfinished thoughts, you’ll know why.

What we are doing is holding ourselves accountable to valuing our time in an era where we never seem to have enough of it.

If we don’t hit our goal, that’s OK. Reflect on what happened.

Then use those insights to adapt. This is true growth and time well-spent.

The Debrief

So, why have I subjected you to a personal problem in this post?

I wanted to show how easy it is to let time run away from us and our goals.

We can’t get time back.

But we can be intentional in how we spend it to ensure we don’t waste it.

Time’s up.

9:42am start

10:42am end

Such an important lesson in a brief, yet meaningful, piece of writing. Thank you for opening yourself for others!
